ICYMI, last night ‘Ye pulled a Dark Knight villain-esque move and projected a video for his new single “New Slaves” on a number of the pre-planned 66 building locations* in various cities across the globe. Today, we learn that the single will appear on his forthcoming LP not-so-surprisingly titled Yeezus. The album is slated for a June 18th release, which Kanye Tweeted not too long ago. Stay tuned for more news about the project.

The Weeknd has returned with the release of his 7:30-minute title-track from his upcoming project Kiss Land. The single is in two-parts; in the first half, the Toronto-based singer-songwriter gives his best advice to a certain super-fan: “The only thing you’re taking is your clothes off.” The beat is reminiscent of “House of Balloons / Glass Table Girls” from his first mixtape, but with even more of a demented twist. In the second half of the track, he explains how life has been for him lately: “I got a brand new place / I think I’ve seen it twice all year.” It’s evident that the newfound level of fame he found post-Trilogy has kept him on tour and recording a ways away from any “home” he’s supposed to know. The beat changes halfway through, throwing some falling chords and booming drums into the mix. If this is any indication of how his next project will sound, it will be something to look more than forward to. Stream “Kiss Land” below.

I don’t really know how to explain this, but I’m going to attempt to. So, Omarion, the dude who as of late has become known for dancing at the wrong time, created a promo trailer for his upcoming album Love And Other Drugs that involves, well, mostly dancing; in the middle of the busy streets of Paris, France, at that. Not only is he dancing unnecessarily nearby a crowd of constantly moving tourists busying themselves with the Eiffel Tower, but he does so to Clams Casino’s “I’m God” of all songs. Very #Based move on his part. In the video, we’re blessed with the opportunity to view his #rare new move the “sun glide” in action, which is essentially the moonwalk with your hands on the ground. Is he trying to diversify his fanbase and attract members of the BasedWorld cult to his music with this trailer? Possibly. Is it amazing that he managed to create a floor routine to a Clams Casino song? Indeed, it is. #ThankYouMaybachO. #TYMO. Check it out below.

Drake‘s first official member on his OVO imprint via Warner Bros. is Mississauga, ON native PartyNextDoor. The 2nd single from his upcoming release on the label (TBD/TBA) is the self-produced, two-part track titled “Wus Good / Curious”. PND uses reverb to add affect to his modern day sing-song R&B vocals; his production is of the new-school Toronto fare, slow-moving drum and bass with extended, slowly fading outros, all with its own unique twist. A couple of friends of ours named Ryan Moss and Mo Halali created a track called “In the Mean Time” right out of their bedroom, fusing all types of genres together in the process. Ryan explains: ”This is my first collaboration with Emma Cohen from the VTS Mixed Emotions A Capella group and Mohammed Al-Halali who lays down some lyrical genius. ‘In The Mean Time’ resulted in a blend of sound that draws from soul, funk, reggae, and hip-hop, as well as popular influences.” Hear it for yourself below.
