Last month Brookyln up-and-comer Troy Ave came out with the third mixtape in his trilogy series titled Bricks in My Backpack. The third installment is his best work to date: the beats come from a variety of producers that help elevate Ave’s piercing NY street-bred flow to new levels. Lyrically and content-wise, the tape is filled with the trials and tribulations of the coke dealer lifestyle; he uses the cleverly-coined pseudonym “Harry Powder” to tell his stories through. I’ve been listening to the tape for the past week and I can’t seem to put it down; personally I believe that it deserves more recognition than it’s been receiving. Stream the tape below and download it here, and be sure to check out his music video for “Shame” below as well.
